Outdoor Learning

We have two fantastic outdoor learning environments offering children the freedom to explore, be physically active, use all of their senses, and experience first-hand the natural world. Both the gardens will have sheds and storage facilities which the children can access and use the resources independently.

The Courtyard

A flat area hard-standing area, the courtyard is richly resourced with play materials to encourage all areas of learning and development. We will have a construction site containing various building equipment, a small world and role play area to encourage imaginative play, sand and water trays to explore, and plenty of mark making opportunities. We will also have a wide variety of ride-ons and other toys to promote physical development.

The Mini Monkey room has a fenced off area in the courtyard which they can access at all times during the day.

The Nature Garden

An inspiring natural area, the nature garden which will allow children to investigate the open-ended natural resources to develop and test their ideas and understanding about the world they live in. We have a sensory garden which offers a relaxing and reflective space, a mud kitchen, a small world area, a digging area with a variety of tools and equipment, and a natural music area containing stick xylophones and a music wall. We also have equipment to encourage den building and minibeast hunts, and a fantastic vegetable patch which the children will decide what they would like to grow and learn how to look after.
